Five get life term in murder cases

Separate courts in three days sentenced five people to life-term imprisonment in different murder cases in three districts - Faridpur, Narayanganj and Lalmonirhat.  
FARIDPUR: A court in the district on Wednesday sentenced two youths to life-term imprisonment for killing a schoolboy in Sadar Upazila in 2022.
Faridpur Additional District and Sessions Second Court Judge Shihabul Islam handed down the verdict at around 12:30 pm.
At the same time, the court also fined the convicts Tk 50,000 each, and in default, they will have to suffer six more months in jail.
The condemned convicts are: Asmat Sheikh, 19, and Sagar Molla, 24. Both of them are residents of Lokmankhar Dangi Village under Sadar Upazila in the district.
Public Prosecutor (PP) of the court Advocate Sanwar Hossain confirmed the matter.
According to the prosecution, the convicts killed a teenage boy, named  Sabbir Bishwas, an eighth grader at a local high school and son of Alamgir Biswas of Munshirdangi area under Sadar Upazila, on Aril 1, 2022.
Later on, the deceaseds father Alamgir Biswas filed a murder case with Faridpur Kotwali Police Station (PS) in this regard.
After investigation, police submitted the charge-sheet to the court accusing the duo, and following this, the court pronounced the verdict on Wednesday noon after examining the case records and taking depositions of the witnesses.
NARAYANGANJ: A court in the district on Tuesday sentenced two people to life-term imprisonment for slaughtering an auto-rickshaw driver in Araihazar Upazila in 2008.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Umme Saraban Tahura handed down the verdict at noon in absence of the convicts.
The condemned convicts are: Md Abul Hossain, son of late Chan Mia, a resident of Chamurkandi area, and Ukil, son of Salauddin of Sulpandi area in Araihazar Upazila.
The court also fined them Tk 50,000, and in default, they have to suffer six more months in jail.
Three other accused were also acquitted as their guilt could not be proven.
APP of the court Advocate Md Abdur Rahim confirmed the matter.
According to the prosecution, police recovered the throat-slit body of auto-rickshaw driver Osman from a bush inside a beel in Eid Bardi area under Araihazar Upazila on November 28, 2008.
The deceaseds father Md Mostafa lodged a murder case with Araihazar PS being the plaintiff in this regard.
After investigation, police submitted the charge-sheet to the court against the duo.
Following this, the court pronounced the verdict on Tuesday after examining the case records and taking depositions of the witnesses.
LALMONIRHAT: A court in the district on Monday sentenced a man to life-term imprisonment for killing his wife in Hatibandha Upazila in 2011.
District and Sessions Judge Mizanur Rahman handed down the verdict in the afternoon in absence of the convict Sushil Chandra.
The court also fined the convict Tk 5,000, and in default, he has to suffer six more months in jail.
PP of the court Akmal Hossain confirmed the matter.
According to the prosecution, Sushil killed hacked his wife Josna Bala on June 15, 2011 over a family dispute. Later on, she died the next day.
The deceaseds brother Fani Barman lodged a murder case with Hatibandha PS being the plaintiff.
After investigation, police submitted the charge-sheet to the court, and following this, the court pronounced the verdict.
