A woman was allegedly hacked to death by her husband at Ishwardi upazila in Pabna district on Sunday.
The incident took place at around 7:00 am in Baghail West Para area under Pakshi union in the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Rina Begum, 30, daughter of Akbar Ali, hailed from Bagha upazila in Rajshahi district. She was a garment worker.
It was learnt that there was a long standing dispute between Milon Hossain and his wife Rina Begum over Milon's drug addiction.
Following this dispute, they locked in an altercation while Rina was going to her workplace in the morning. At one stage of altercation, Milon hacked Rina Begum with a knife, leaving her dead on the spot.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Pabna Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, said Ruhul Amin, in-charge of Pakshi Police Outpost.
Police detained the deceased's husband in connection with the murder, he added.
