Cop gets life term jail in drug case in Faridpur

FARIDPUR, June 3: A court here on Monday sentenced a policeman to life imprisonment in a drug peddling case.

The convict is Sheikh Azam, 40, a former traffic inspector of Jhenaidah district. He is the son of Ali Ahmad Sheikh of Pachuria village under Lohagara Thana in Narail district.

The court also fined him Tk 5,000, in default; he will have to serve three more months of imprisonment.

Shihabul Islam, judge of Faridpur Additional District and Sessions Judge Second Court handed down the judgment this afternoon.

Public Prosecutor (PP) Advocate Sanowar Hossain said that on December 26, 2017, a sawmill worker named Mojibur Molla sustained injury in a motorcycle accident on Dhaka Khulna highway on the west side of Madhukhali railway gate in the district.    —UNB
