One held with hemp in Noakhali

Police arrested a drug peddler along with 13 kilograms of hemp at Begumganj upazila in Noakhali district on Wednesday.

The arrested man is Nur Mohammad, 55, a resident of East Maizsora village under Noakhali Sadar upazila.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Chandragonj Highway Police conducted a raid in Kendurbag bazar area on the Noakhali-Laxmipur highway on Wednesday evening and arrested Nur Mohammad with the drugs, said Md Ruhul Amin, officer in-charge of  Chandragonj Highway Police Station.  

"A case was filed against him with Begumganj Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act."
The accused will be produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, he added.
