Mother, son electrocuted in Mymensingh

A woman and her son died of electrocution at Gafargaon upazila in Mymensingh district on Thursday.

The incident took place around 2:00 pm at Saripara village under Barbaria union in the upazila. 

The deceased were identified as Sirin Akhtar, 55, wife of Helal Uddin Master and her son Istiak Ahmed Shimul, 22, residents of the area.

It was learnt that shimul came in contact with a live electric wire while he tried to start an electric motor in a pond. At that time, his mother jumped into the pond to save him, leaving the duo dead on the spot. 
On information, police have been sent to the spot, said Md Shahinuzzan Khan, officer in-charge of Gafargaon Police Station.
