In order to create awareness about safe food and nutrition among common people, a day-long food and nutrition awareness fair was held in Joypurhat district on Sunday.
The fair was organized by 'JAKAS Foundation' at the organization's head office premises where a total of 30 stalls have been set up to make common people aware about the nutritional quality of food.
Joypurhat Police Superintendent Mohammad Nur-e-Alam inaugurated the fair by blowing balloons as the chief guest presided over by Nurul Amin, Executive Director of JAKAS Foundation.
JAKAS Foundation Deputy Executive Director Abul Bashar, Director (Programs) Rafiqul Islam, District Animal Resources Officer Dr Mahir Uddin, Agricultural Engineer of Local Agriculture Extension Directorate Sirajul Islam, Safe Food Authority Officer Sumaiya Afrin Jinia, Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) Nutrition Specialist Kapil Kumar Pal, Sector Veloge Chain Specialist Rafizul Islam Mandal spoke at the inaugural session of the fair.
Later, a procession was brought out which paraded several streets of the town.
