Former inspector general of police (IGP) Benazir Ahmeds wife Jishan Mirza and his daughters have also sought 15 days time to appear before the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to face questions.

Sunday was the scheduled date for the ACC to interrogate Benazirs wife, Jishan Mirza, and their daughters over illegal wealth. But, they did not appear before the commission and submitted time petitions before the commission seeking 15 days more time to appear before it.

The lawyer on behalf of them prayed to the ACC in the morning on Sunday, Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan, chief counsel of the ACC confirmed the matter.

They might get 15-day time following the petition in accordance with the law, the ACC lawyer said adding that the commission would now set a new date for their questioning.

On May 28, the commission summoned Benazir to appear before it on June 6 and his wife Jishan Mirza  and their daughters on June 9 to make statements on the allegations of amassing illegal wealth.

According to the notice, Benazir was summoned to appear before ACC on last Thursday for questioning regarding the allegations of amassing wealth beyond known sources of income. But he did not appear before it on that day as he has sought 15 days time to appear before the commission.

Later, the ACC fixed June 23 for Benazir to appear before the commission as he did not appear on the scheduled date for interrogation.

Now, his family members also sought 15-day time without appearing before the commission. After complying with the relevant rule, the ACC fixed June 24 for their questioning.
