BD seeks Sri Lankan investment in tourism sector

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has sought Sri Lankan investment in her countrys tourism sector for mutual benefits of both the neighbouring countries.

She also focused on mutual cooperation in agriculture and maritime sectors, Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud said after a courtesy meeting between Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina with President of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe in New Delhi on Monday morning, according to a media release from Foreign Ministry in Dhaka.

"The two leaders discussed how Sri Lankan can investment in Bangladesh as former is much ahead in tourism sector," Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud told reporters after the meeting. The discussion also focused on mutual cooperation in agriculture and maritime sectors, the release said.

"The meeting was just a courtesy call. But the entire gamut of bilateral relations was discussed elaborately," Hasan said.
During the meeting, the Sri Lankan President thanked Bangladeshs Premier for helping his country financially in this critical time.

Hasina also invited Wicremensinghe to visit Bangladesh, the release said.
The Sri Lankan president said he has a desire to visit Bangladesh, but his country is going to the election, it added.
