Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (BAIRA) Senior Vice President Reaz Ul Islam on Monday claimed that he was assaulted and threatened by some outsider miscreants at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the organization held at Dhakas InterContinental Hotel on the day.
At a press conference held at a city hotel in Dhaka, he claimed that due to his voice against the syndicate and irregularities against the outgoing committee, especially the president, the culprits attacked on him and his associates. He sought Prime Minister Sheikh interference to get justice against the syndicate.
Meanwhile, in a statement, BAIRA claimed that nobody was assaulted or threatened in the AGM. Rather, a section of BAIRA members who were trying to speak about some personal issues in the meeting bypassing the actual agenda were barred.
In the press conference, Reaz Ul Islam claimed that he and his followers have tried to discuss the issues of failure to send some 51,000 intending Bangladeshi migrants, of them 17,000 failed after getting all travel documents including visa, BMET clearance and air tickets, in the meeting.
"I was trying to know about taking Tk,1,52,000 per person from the Malaysia bound migrants by the the syndicate members. All migrants were compelled to give at least Tk,4,50,000 to the syndicate members for getting an employment at Malaysia. When I was talking about taking the 101-member syndicate under legal actions, the miscreant attacked on me," Reaz stated.
He also blamed that outgoing BAIRA committee for embezzling around Tk40 crore to Tk50 crore.
