AL leader killed in Faridpur road accident

A local leader of Bangladesh Matsyajibi League, an associate organization of Bangladesh Awami League, was killed in a road accident at Boalmari upazila in Faridpur district on Saturday afternoon.

The accident occurred at around 12:30 PM on Saturday at the Baikhir Bonchaki area of the Majkandi-Bhatiapara regional highway.

The deceased was identified as Mridul Kazi, 32, a resident of Sotasi village in Boalmari Sadar Union, served as the president of the Boalmari Union Matsyajibi League.

According to police and local sources, Mridul Kazi was riding his motorcycle towards Sahasrail Bazar in Shekhar Union of Boalmari Upazila. Upon reaching Baikhir Bonchaki on the Majkandi-Bhatiapara regional highway, his motorcycle collided with a brick-laden dump truck coming from the opposite direction. The impact caused the truck to veer off the road and into a ditch, leaving Kazi critically injured. 

Locals rushed him to the Boalmari Upazila Health Complex, where the attending physician declared him dead.
Dr. Shakila Azad, the attending doctor at Boalmari Upazila Health Complex, confirmed the death matter.

Boalmari Police Station officer-in-charge) Md. Shahidul Islam said,"Upon receiving news, we dispatched police to both the scene and the hospital. Legal proceedings regarding this incident are currently underway."
