Man killed in Magura over land dispute

A man was killed in a clash between two groups of villagers over a land dispute in Magura’s Sadar upazila on Thursday.
The victim was Jahid Biswas, 38, was a resident of Benga village.
Sheikh Mehedi Russel, officer-in-charge of Magura Sadar Police Station, confirmed the matter.
There had been a long-standing dispute between Anarul and Ashraf over a piece of land, said the OC
According to locals, the conflict escalated on Thursday morning when Anarul began filling the disputed land. Ashraf’s son, Mehedi, attempted to stop him, leading to a violent confrontation. At that time, Anarul and his associates attacked Mehedi, Jahid, and several others, leaving Jahid critically injured.
Later, Jahid was taken to Magura District Hospital where doctors referred him to Dhaka for better treatment. He died in an ambulance on the way to Dhaka in the evening.
A case has been filed in connection with the incident, added the OC.
