Child drowns in Bhola

An eight-year-old child drowned in a pond at Lalmohon upazila in Bhola district on Friday afternoon.

The incident happened in Sor Kossopia area under Bodorpur union in the upazila.

The deceased was identified as Md Yasin, son of Md Kamal, a resident of Sorpata area in the upazila.

It was learnt that Yasin went to his grandmother's house with his mother on Friday morning. In the afternoon, he slipped into his maternal grandfather's pond while he was playing. 
Sensing his absence, family members started searching and found him in the pond.

He was rescued and taken to Lalmohan Upazila Health Complex where on-duty doctors declared him dead.

On information, police recovered the body and handed it to the family as there were no allegations, said Md Enayat Hossain, officer in-charge of Lalmohon Police Station. 

An unnatural death case has been filed in this regard, the police official added.
