Bangladesh Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Friday said the party is ready if BNP enters the political arena with fire in the name of movement.

He said, "If BNP enters the field again with fire and does politics of murder in the name of movement, Awami League is ready to respond."

Quader said this while opening a grand rally to mark the ALs 75th founding anniversary begun in front of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh and ended at Dhanmondi 32.

"The source of our power is the people of the country. Awami League is not a drop of dew on arum leaves, which will fall with a little tap. Rather, BNPs movement is fake. BNPs leadership is fake.

People are not with the fake party, never were before and never will be. A movement without the support of the people is not a movement," Quader said.

The Minister said the Awami League is not a party to bow down (to anyone), adding that the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and the judiciary are independent, and if an individual commits offences, he or she will be brought to justice.

Quader said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has the courage to bring offenders to justice.

He said it should be mulled whether the plot going on today is to remove the Awami League or not. Urging AL men to remain alert against rumours, he said, "Remain alert and be careful. BNP is spreading rumours against the Awami League….they (BNP) are plotting to show the Awami League as a corrupt party by spreading rumours."

To mark the diamond jubilee of the party, AL on Thursday chalked out an extensive series of programmes which kicked off through yesterdays rally.

The theme of this years celebration is "Green World".

Thousands of leaders and activists from different units in the capital and surrounding areas participated in the rally.
By 2:00pm, Ramna and the surrounding areas were buzzing with AL leaders and activists.

They were seen thronging near the starting point of the procession carrying national flags, party banners and festoons. Many were also seen travelling towards the venue on trucks, playing patriotic songs.

AL Presidium Member Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, Mustafa Jalal Mohiuddin, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, AFM Bahauddin Nashim, Organising Secretary Ahmad Hossain, BM Mozammel Haque, Mirza Azam, SM Kamal Hossain, Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel, Sujit Roy Nandi, Office Secretary Biplab Barua, Relief and Social Welfare Affairs Secretary Aminul Islam Amin, Deputy Office Secretary Sayem Khan and Executive Member Sahabuddin Faraji attended the programme, among others.
