New army chief pays courtesy call on President

New Army Chief General Waker-uz-Zaman paid a courtesy call on President Mohammed Shahabuddin at Bangabhaban on Sunday evening.

Presidents wife Dr. Rebeka Sultana was present during the time.

Congratulating the new Army Chief, the Head of State said the members of the  armed forces division are performing various responsibilities at the national  and international levels with great success, Presidents Press Secretary Md  Joynal Abedin told BSS subsequently.

The President, also the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, mentioned that  the professionalism and skills of the army personnel are being appreciated in  various peacekeeping missions abroad.

Besides, President Shahabuddin said the army is playing an important role in the implementation of various development projects of the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and during various crises, including national disasters.

Under the leadership of the new army chief, the Bangladesh Army will move forward on the path of development and prosperity in the days to come, he hoped.

During the meeting, the new army chief sought the Presidents guidance and overall cooperation in fulfilling his assignments.

Secretaries concerned to the Presidents office were present there.     —BSS
