Foreign citizens, living and working in Bangladesh, sent home 130.58 million US dollar from their income during the July- April period of the fiscal 2023-24 (July 2023- June 2024).
Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali said this while responding to a query by Abdul Kader of Faridpur-3 constituency which was tabled at the parliament.
Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury was in the chair.
Abul Hassan said that the annual income information of foreign nationals living in Bangladesh is not stored in Bangladesh Bank.
They sent USD 130.58 million remittances to their respective countries in the first three quarters of the fiscal year 2023-24 ending in June this year.
Among them, Indian citizens living in Bangladesh remitted USD 50.60 million to their country, Chinese USD14.56 million, Sri Lankans USD12.71 million, Japanese USD6.89 million, Koreans USD6.21 million, Thai USD5.30 million, UK nationals USD3.59 million, Pakistanis USD3.24 million, US citizens USD3.17 million, Malaysians USD2.40 million, and citizens of other countries sent home USD21.92 dollars to their respective countries.
