Growing dengue cases raise concerns

Published : Tuesday, 25 June, 2024 at 12:00 AM  Count : 191

Dear Sir

As of Sunday morning, forty-two individuals have been hospitalized due to dengue fever, with twelve cases reported in Dhaka and the remainder outside the capital. Since the beginning of this year, a total of 3,385 cases have been recorded, and currently, 150 patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals nationwide. Last year, tragically, we lost 1,705 lives to dengue, marking it as the deadliest year on record for the disease.

This alarming situation underscores the importance of remaining vigilant and taking proactive measures to prevent the spread of dengue. I urge everyone to adhere strictly to preventive guidelines provided by health authorities, including eliminating mosquito breeding grounds and seeking medical attention at the earliest signs of symptoms.

Let us all work together to raise awareness and ensure the safety and well-being of our community.

Taibah Akter Demra, Dhaka
