MYMENSINGH, June 25: Teachers of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) observed a half-day work abstention on Tuesday, the first working day after the 12-day Eid vacation, demanding withdrawal of the notification issued by Ministry of Finance on the universal pension scheme.
According to a statement issued by Prof Dr Tanvir Rahman, general secretary of the BAU Teachers Association, teachers will also observe work abstention from 8 am to 1 pm on June 26th and 27th.
Additionally, administrative buildings on the campus will be closed from 11 am to 1 pm.
Besides, full-day work abstention will be observed on Sunday (June 30), except for essential final exams, which will proceed as scheduled.
Dr. M. Rafiqul Islam Sardar, president of the universitys Teachers Association, said that all BAU teachers will jointly observe a half-day work abstention until June 27 and a full-day strike on June 30. —UNB
