Police arrested a 19-year-old boy for raping a 12-year-old girl from Bhaluka upazila in Mymensingh district on Wednesday night.
The arrested boy is Md Sadikul Islam, 19, a resident of Kinar Algi Sor village under Sor Algi union in Gafargaon upazila.
On Tuesday night, the arrested man along with his two associates took the victim to a near bamboo bush when the girl went out from her house for responding to natural's call at Kinar Algi Sor village. They, then raped the girl throughout the night and left her alone in the bamboo bush.
Later, the girl took shelter in a local resident's house early Wednesday.
On Wednesday morning, the maternal grandfather of the victim filed a case with Gafargaon Police Station.
Md Shahinuzzaman Khan, officer-in-charge of Gafargaon Police Station, said that after filing a case in this regard, one accused Md Sadikul Islam was arrested and produced before the Mymensingh court.
