Indian sugar worth Tk 2 crore seized in Netrakona

NETRAKONA, June 28: A total of 3,064 sacks of Indian sugar were seized from various areas in Kalmakanda Upazila of the district on Wednesday.

The drives were jointly conducted by the upazila administration, police, and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) led by Assistant Commissioner (AC) (Land) and Executive Magistrate Md Sahidul Islam, in Lengura, Bolmath, Kurakhali, and Kosugora areas from 8 am to 10 pm on Wednesday.
On information, a mobile court conducted the operations in these areas and recovered 3,064 sacks of Indian sugar from various houses and shops. The smugglers fled upon sensing the operation, said AC Land and Executive Magistrate of the upazila Md Sahidul Islam.

The estimate value of seized sugar is about Tk 2 crore, he added.
