A bus driver was killed after his vehicle crashed into a sand-laden truck in Mymensingh’s Bhaluka upazila on Saturday morning.
The accident happened at the Dhalibari intersection on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway.
The deceased was identified as Swapan Hossain, 55, hailed from Jhalakathi’s Rajapur Police Station.
At around 5:45am, a Dhaka-bound Ena Paribahan bus crashed into the sand-laden truck while it was taking a U-turn in the area, leaving the bus driver seriously injured in the crash, said Atiqur Rahman, senior station officer of Bhaluka Fire Service.
On information, Fire Service personnel rescued him and rushed him to the Bhaluka Upazila Health Complex, where the on duty doctor declared him dead he added.
The body is in police custody and legal action will be taken in the incident, said Md Shafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Bhoradoba Highway Police Station.
