BNP could be slave of any country to go to power: Quader

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister, on Saturday criticised BNP saying that it could be slave of any country to go to power.

"BNP is now trying to go to power by any means. So, they want to be slave of any country, so that they can go to power again," he said speaking at a mass rally of the ruling Awami League, on its 75th founding anniversary, at the capitals Bangabandhu Avenue.

The meeting started at around 3:00pm in front of the Awami League central office with its Dhaka city south unit President Abu Ahmad Mannafi in the chair while the meeting was moderated by Dhaka city south unit general secretary Humayun Kabir.

Among others, AL Presidium Members Mofazzel Hossain Chowdhury Maya and Quamrul Islam, AL Joint General Secretaries Mahbub Ul Alam Hanif, AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Cultural Affairs Secretary Asim Kumar Ukil, Centarl Committee Member Shahabuddin Farazi, President of Dhaka South City AL Abu Ahmed Monnafi also spoke.

Speaking as the chief guest, Obaidul Quader said, "The party is trying to strengthen its anti-government movement following instruction from its fugitive acting chairperson Tarique Rahman, who is now in London, UK. But, the people don respond to the call from London. The people will not respond to the call from London."

Ruling Awami League wants to maintain friendship with all countries. But, BNP does slavery of any country for going to  power, he added.

Warning the corrupt, Quader said, "The ero Tolerance policy of Sheikh Hasina will continue and nobody would be spared for indulging in corruption. Everyone will be punished."

Although the rally was scheduled to start at 3:00pm, the leaders and activists in small processions started gathering at Bangabandhu Avenue at 2:00pm.

Local councilors from each ward of Dhaka South City, leaders and activists of Awami League and its associate bodies joined the rally leading processions.

After the last general election, Awami League is holding a big event in the capital.

On the same day, the BNP also held a rally in front of its central office at Naya Paltan in the capital.
