Two crushed under train in Moulvibazar, Chuadanga

Two people were crushed under train in separate incidents in two districts - Moulvibazar and Chuadanga, in three days.

KULAURA, MOULVIBAZAR: A man was crushed under a train in Kulaura Upazila of the district on Sunday.

The accident took place in Nartan area under Rautgaon Union of the upazila at around 12 pm.

The identity of the deceased, aged about 35, could not be known immediately.

Quoting locals, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kulaura Railway Police Station (PS) Mihir Ranjan Deb said the Chattogram-bound Paharika Express intercity train hit the man in Nartan area at noon, leaving him dead on the spot.

Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy, the OC added.

CHUADANGA: A mentally-challenged man was crushed under a train in Damurhuda Upazila of the district on Friday.

The incident took place near Chhotadhupatila unguarded railway gate under Hauli Union of the upazila at around 11:30 am.

The deceased was identified as Alamin Hossain, 29, son of Zhantu Ali, a resident of Dihi Krishnapur area under Darshana PS.

Locals said the Dhaka-bound Maitree Express train from Kolkata hit Alamin while he was crossing the rail line in the area, which left him dead on the spot.

Being informed, police recovered the body from the scene and sent it to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Darshana Railway PS OC Ataur Rahman confirmed the incident, adding that necessary steps would be taken in this regard.
