Child among 2 killed in Ukhiya landslide

Two persons, including a child, were killed in landslide in two Rohingya camps in Cox's Bazar's Ukhiya.

Three more people were also injured in the incident, it was learnt.

The landslide took place in Balukhali camp 11 and 8 Rohingya camps of Ukhiya upazila early Wednesday.
The deceased were Mohammad Sifat, 13, son of Md Alam of Block 41 of Camp 8; and Anwar Islam, 27, son of Dil Mohammad of F/1 Block of Camp 11.

Ukhiya Police Station OC Shamim Hossain said a chunk of mud from a hill collapsed on the No 11 and No 8 Rohingya camp amid the torrential rainfall, leaving two dead on the spot.

Receiving information, a firefighting unit rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies.
