Youth arrested for raping fourth-grader in Bagerhat

Police arrested a 23-year-old man for allegedly raping a fourth grader at Morrelganj upazila in Bagerhat district on Wednesday night.

The arrested man is Mehedi Hasan, a resident of Morrelganj municipality.

Harunur Rashid, head teacher of Baraikhali Government Primary School, said Mehedi tactfully took a fourth-grader girl at a unused house of Nishanbaria union in the upazila while she was returning to home alone after completing classes. Later, he violated the girl forcefully in the house.

"After knowing this incident, I filed a case with the Morrelganj Police Station in this regard on Wednesday evening", said Harunur Rashid.
"Police arrested accused Mehedi after filing a case with the police station. Later, he was produced before the court on Thursday morning. The victim was taken to a hospital for medical test," said Md Shamsuddin, officer-in-charge of Morrelganj Police Station.
