The court also acquitted his father, Mostafa Daftari, and mother, Nasima Begum, residents of Ramchandrapur village in the upazila.
According to the case statement, Merina and Rimon had a love affair which led to their marriage on October 26, 2019. At the time of the marriage, Merina's family pay Rimon Tk 400,000 in cash as dowry.
However, a few days later, Rimon and his family demanded an additional Tk 200,000. When the demand was not met Rimon began to physically and mentally abuse Merina. Following the incident, Merina's father filed a
murder case with Keshabpur Police Station against Rimon, his parents, his cousin Al Amin from Pazia village, and his uncle Saheb Ali.
After the case was filed, Rimon surrendered to the court.
The investigation officer of the case, SI Likhan Kumar Sarkar, investigated the case and pressed a charge-sheet accusing four people, excluding Al Amin.
During the trial, the judge acquitted Saheb Ali and Al Amin and proceeded with the case against the remaining defendants.
