Five people sustained burn injuries as a microbus carrying them caught fire after hitting a road divider in Meghna toll plaza area on Dhaka-Chattogram Highway in Narayanganjs Sonargaon upazila on Wednesday.

The identities of the victims could not be known immediately.

The injured were rushed to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka, said Abu Nayem, inspector of Kanchpur Highway Police Station.

Police and locals said the Chattogram-bound microbus caught fire after hitting the road divider near the toll plaza around 10am.
