Three murdered in Madaripur, Gazipur, Faridpur

Three people including two women were murdered in separate incidents in three districts - Madaripur, Gazipur and Faridpur, in two days.

MADARIPUR: A youth was killed in a collision between two groups in Kalkini Upazila of the district on Thursday over land dispute.

The deceased was identified as Sazzad Howlader, 28, son of Kalu Hawlader, a resident of Chor Alimabad Village in the upazila.
Local sources said there had been a longstanding dispute between Sopon Hawlader and Kalu Hawlader over land. 

On Thursday morning, both groups engaged in a collision over the matter. During the collision, Sazzad Hawlader was critically injured by his rivals.

He was then rescued and taken to Kalkini Upazila Health Complex first, and later, transferred to Barishal Medical College Hospital (SBMCH) for better treatment.

Later on, he succumbed to his injuries at the SBMCH while undergoing treatment.

Md Nur Mohammad, sub-inspector (SI) of Kalkini Police Station (PS), confirmed the incident. 

GAZIPUR: A father has allegedly murdered his daughter hacking and slitting her throat in a sequel to a family feud at Kapasia in the district on Thursday.

The incident took place in Dharpara Village under Chandpur Union of the upazila in the morning.
The deceased was identified as Smrity Akter, 26, hails from Dharpara Village. 

Accused Sharfuddin, 60, has been absconding following the incident.

Police sources said deceased Smrity Akter was the daughter of first wife of the accused Sharfuddin. Saifuddin divorced Smritys mother Salma Akter several years back due to family feud.

However, there was family feud as Salma Akter did not receive Tk 5 lakh which she gave Sharfuddin selling land in her fathers home.

Besides, Sharfuddin declined to pay the kabin money or security money of the bride to Salma Akter. The locals also tried to settle the issue sitting several times.

Smrity Akter had an altercation with her father and step-mother when she tried to cut a jackfruit from a tree adjacent to their house on Thursday morning. At one stage of the quarrel, Sharfuddin hacked Smrity Akter indiscriminately with a sharp weapon brought to cut jackfruit, and then slit her throat.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kapasia PS Abu Bakar Siddique said the body was recovered and sent to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy. 

Sharfuddin Khan has been absconding since the murder. Drives are continuing to arrest him, the OC added.
FARIDPUR: A woman was reportedly beaten to death by her husband in Sadar Upazila of the district on Wednesday night.
The deceased was identified as Tanzila Aktar Tahera, 21, daughter of Tobarez Molla, a resident of Domarakandi Uttar Para Village in the upazila. She was a degree first year student.

It was known that Tanzila married to Zishan Ahmed, a resident of Gongarbadi area in the upazila, five months back following a relationship. Since then, they used to live in a rented house in Gongarbadi area near Markaz Mosque in the upazila. 
   
After their marriage, Zishan used to create pressure on Tanzila for dowry. Over the issue, at around 10 pm on Wednesday, Zishan beat Tanzila up mercilessly, leaving her critically injured.

She was then rescued and taken to the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College Hospital, where she died. 

Her father filed a case against Zishan following the incident. Police arrested Zishan on Thursday morning.

Meanwhile Zabeda Begum, mother of Zishan, claimed that Tanzila committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling of her room.

Md Salauddin, additional superintendent of police (ASP) (Sadar Circle), said there have some injury marks on Tanzilas body.
"We cannot say whether it is a murder or not at this moment. After getting the autopsy report we could informed the details", the ASP added.
