The members of Chattogram University (CU) Chhatra League have been made accused of attacking the quota protestors on Monday afternoon.

It was known that two students were seriously injured so far in the attack.

According to the protesting students, they had gathered at CU Railway station to join a larger protest at Sholoshahar while Chhatra League activists allegedly snatched the shuttle train keys and then attacked the students.

During the attack, they have forcibly took several to the proctor’s office and made them hostages. When the other protesters tried to rescue the hostages, they were intercepted at the university's Shaheed Minar and brutally beaten by the BCL members. They used bamboo sticks and planks to severely injure two students of the university.

They also alleged that several female students were also harassed during the attack.

The students further said, "We went to the proctor's office to file a complaint about the harassment at Shaheed Minar. At that time, BCL activists blocked our way and verbally abused us. When we tried to enter the proctor's office, they locked the door and physically assaulted us. Despite the presence of the proctor and assistant proctors, they misbehaved with us and threatened us. We are now living in fear for our safety."

A female student from the 2019-20 session, who was assaulted in front of the proctor's office, said, "When we tried to enter the proctor’s office, they blocked us and tried to lock the door. When I blocked the door, they kicked me multiple times and hit my hands. They misbehaved with all the female students, assaulted us right in front of the proctor's office. The proctors witnessed everything but took no action and instead scolded us when we tried to speak with them.”

A BCL leader, Elias, commented on the incident, saying, "There is no place for Rajakars at Chittagong University and no one chanting ‘Rajakar-Rajakar’ can stay in this country."
