Flood situation may improve in northeastern region: FFWC

The overall flood situation in different low-lying areas of northeastern region of the country may improve in 24 hours commencing 9am on Monday, according to the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC).

The Brahmaputra-Jamuna Rivers are in a falling trend, which may continue in next 72 hours.

The Ganges river is in rising trend which may continue in next 72 hours, while the water level of Padma river is in steady state which may fall in next 24 hours, a FFWC bulletin said.

The major rivers in the North-eastern region of the country are in a declining trend overall, which may continue in next 48 hours.

In the next 72 hours, flood situation inlow-lying areas adjacent to Brahmaputra-Jamuna river of Kurigram, Jamalpur, Gaibandha, Bogura, Tangail and Sirajganj districts may improve.

The Teesta, Dharla and Dudhkumar rivers in the Northern region of the country may fall and flood situationin some low-lying areas adjacent to Dudhkumar river of Kurigram district may improve in the next 48 hours, according to the FFWC.

In the next 24 hours, the water level of the rivers in the North-western region of the country may fall except the Mohananda river.

During the same period, the flood situation in the North-western region of the country in the low-lying areas of Sirajganj district along the Atrai river may improve, it added.    —UNB
