Fire at Bangabandhu Hall of Rajshahi University

A fire broke out at Bangabandhu Hall of Rajshahi University (RU) on Tuesday afternoon during demonstrations of students demanding quota system reform.

The fire broke out around 3:15 PM.

Witnesses said protesters entered RU with sticks.

After that, 10-15 motorcycles parked on the ground floor of Bangabandhu Hall were set on fire. As the fire spread, general students in the hall got trapped inside, they said.

Proctor Professor Asabul Haque said it is not known who are behind the fire.

The fire service was informed to bring the fire under control, he said.
