Jatrabari turns into battlefield

Several clashes between quota protesters and police have been taking part in the capital's Shanir Akhra and Jatrabari areas since Thursday morning.

Around 11am, the students were barred to go Jatrabari with a procession. To disperse them, the law enforcers lobbed teargas shells and hurled sound grenades After that, the clash spread to Jatrabari from Shanir Akhra's Kajla.

Meanwhile, vehicles got stuck on Hanif Flyover following the clashes.

The vehicular movement on the Dhaka-Chattogram are suspended for over 24 hours as the quota reform protestors blocked the highway.

At about 12:30pm, the protestors set on fire to toll plaza. Some of them were equipped with sticks.

They were chanting slogans " Amer Bhaier Rokto, Britha Jete Dibo Na," " Kota Na, Medha, Medha, Medha", Cheyechilam Odhiker, Hoye Gelam Razaker".

Ward no 103 Awami Swechhasebak League office was vandalised.

From the morning, the law enforcers and Awami League's leaders and activists took position the road in Jatrabari. 

Two youths were injured as Rapid Action Battalion members fired bullets to their legs, it was learnt.
