2,400 stranded tourists leave Coxs Bazar

COXS BAZAR, July 23: Some 2,400 tourists, who were stranded in Coxs Bazar for several days, were returning home amid tight security on Tuesday.

Shahin Imran, deputy commissioner of Coxs Bazar, said 65 buses and a number of minibuses carrying the tourists left for Dhaka and other parts of the country around 8 am.

A number of tourists were sent to their respective homes in Sitakunda, Satkania and Chattogram by minibuses.

Around 3,000 more stranded tourists are scheduled to leave Coxs Bazar on Wednesday, the deputy commissioner said.

All tourists were moved under special arrangement of the local administration amidsttight security.    —UNB
