Fishers start going to sea in Patuakhali

PATUAKHALI, July 25: Soon after the 65-day (May 30-July 23) fishing ban fishermen of the district started to go to Bay of Bengal from early Tuesday (July 23 at 12am). 

Mahipur Fish Trader Association President Didar Uddin Talukdar Masum Bepari told journalists, over 1,000 fishers from Mahipur and Alipur started to go to the deep sea at 12am.  

Despite signal in the sea, fishers went to the sea taking life risk, he added.

He further said, after next one week, fishers can return to their respective fishing  ports with their fishing trawlers.
He also hopes, they will get fishes as it is the full season.

District Fisheries Officer Md Kamrul Hasan confirmed the information.

As the fishing remained suspended for 65 days, it is expected availability of big Hilsas, he added.

He further said, in the last year, after the 65-day, big  Hilsas were netted hugely.
