Bangladesh Secretariat Officers-Employees Unity Council and Bangladesh Secretariat Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited on Thursday strongly protested the destruction of government and private properties, killings and looting.

The two bodies held a joint protest rally at Bangladesh Secretariat Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited's hall room at the secretariat condemning the attacks on government and private establishments, chaos and attacks on government officers and employees carried out by BNP-Jamaat terrorists.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's former APS-1 and now secretary to the government Md Khairul Islam joined the rally as the chief guest with Bangladesh Secretariat Officers-Employees Unity Council President Md Helal Uddin in the chair, said a press release.

Leaders of the two associations Md Jamsed Alam, Mohammad Ali-1, Mohammad Badrul Haider, Md Shah Alam Sarkar, Md Nesarul Hasan, Md Niaz Morshed Mithu, Md Jakaria Hasan and Md Moshfequr Rahman spoke on the occasion, among others.

They said those who carried out the attacks are not students rather they are anti-liberation forces and the attacks were launched to halt the country's development.

"We the employees of the secretariat of all levels are staying with Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's daughter honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and we will stay (in future too)," reads the press release signed by Md Abdul Halim Mian, joint secretary general, Bangladesh Secretariat Officers-Employees Unity Council.

However, a committee has been formed for observing the martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman with due respect in the month of August.

Md Abdus Salam, president (routine charge), Bangladesh Secretariat Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited has been made the convener of the committee and Bangladesh Secretariat Government Employees Association (17-20) President Md Abdul Halim Mian became member secretary.    —BSS
