Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has predicted light to moderate rains in four  divisions as a low pressure system has developed in the north Bay of Bengal and its surrounding areas.

It said light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely at many places over Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions; at a few places over Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi and Dhaka divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions.

The Met office bulletin commencing 9am for the next in 24 hours said a mild heat wave is sweeping in Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions and Tangail, Sylhet and Chuadanga districts.
It may abate from some places.

The day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

Meanwhile, maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal No 3 as the low-pressure area over North Bay and adjoining area intensified into a well-marked low and now lies over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Northwest Bay.

Under its influence step pressure gradient persists over North Bay.

Gusty or squally weather may affect the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
