BNP Secretary General Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said on Saturday, "Awami League government suppressed students by jailing and torturing them filing false cases just as has been done to BNP and other opposition party leaders."
In a statement he said, "After killing and crippling students the Prime Minister visited at hospital.
It was nothing but to deceive the people. We call upon the government to step down, taking the responsibility of the massacre."
Fakhurl said, "Awami League government clings to power by executing different blue prints in last 18 years. Imposing curfew was their latest plan to stay in power by ditching the country and the people." He said, "The government has closed all communication systems including the railways. By imposing curfew the government made the people unemployed, forcing them to starve."
"Essentials' prices have become unaffordable to people. The nation wants an end to this situation," said Fakhrul. He said that only political solution can get the nation out of the suffocative situation.
"The quota reform movement's students and ordinary people like the leaders of the opposition party are being tortured and crippled before they are brought to courts implicating them in fabricated cases.
The second round of torture is carried out in police remand," said Fakhrul. He said that only political solution can get the nation out of the suffocative situation.

He said, "Apart from arresting ordinary people, now innocent students are also arrested on the pretext of searching their identity." Fakhrul asked the government to explain how the coordinators of the quota reform movement disappeared.
He said that the people took to the road whenever they got a chance to protest against the government.
Fakhrul said, "Some important people of law enforcement agencies are saying that there was no shooting from helicopter, if so, how were the children and teenagers killed on the roofs of buildings, including Samir who was on a window?"
