Two teenagers allegedly committed suicide in separate incidents in two districts - Moulvibazar and Bhola, in two days.
KULAURA, MOULVIBAZAR: A teenage girl reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself in Kulaura Upazila of the district on Saturday night.
The deceased was identified as Mahmuda Jannat Anisa, 19, daughter of Shaista Mia, a resident of Gazipur Village under Kulaura Sadar Union in the upazila.
Quoting the deceased's family members, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Kulaura Police Station (PS) Anwar Hossain said Anisa went to her room for sleep after dinner on Saturday night. At any time of the night, she hanged herself with a scarf from the ceiling of the room while her family members were unaware of it.
Anisa's mother saw her hanging body at around 6 am on Sunday and screamed.
Hearing her scream, the other family members rushed in and informed the matter to police.
Being informed, police recovered the body from the scene in the morning and sent it to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
However, the law enforcers are investigating the matter and necessary steps would be taken after getting the autopsy report, the SI added.
LALMOHAN, BHOLA: A teenage boy reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself in Lalmohan Upazila of the district on Friday night.
The incident took place in Ward No. 1 under Lalmohan Sadar Union in the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Md Kalu, 18, son of Md Yasin, a resident of the area.
It was known that Kalu left the house after his mother scolded him for his drug addiction on Friday night. Later on, he hanged himself with a scarf from the ceiling of an unused room near their house at some point during the night.
On Saturday morning, Kalu's mother Kohinur Begum spotted his hanging body and screamed.
Hearing her scream, locals rushed in and informed the matter to police.
Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Bhola Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Officer-in-Charge of Lalmohan PS Md Enayat Hossain confirmed the incident, adding that an unnatural death case was filed in this regard.
