Govt agrees to waive port demurrage for 7 days: FBCCI

The Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) on Wednesday said that the government has waived seven days' demurrage charge at the ports.

The FBCCI in a statement said that following the application of the federation, the government has decided to waive the storage demurrage charge at the ports for seven days. The containers arriving between July 16 and August 5 will get demurrage charge waived within 7 days.

According to this, traders will get demurrage charge waived till August 14, 2024. After this time, this facility would not be applicable, according to the FBCCI statement.    —UNB
