Two minor children drowned in separate incidents in two districts - Lalmonirhat and Kurigram, on Wednesday.
LALMONIRHAT: A minor boy drowned in a pond in Aditmari Upazila of the district on Wednesday.
The incident took place in Deodoba Village under Polashi Union of the upazila. The deceased was identified as Rohan Mia, 4, son of school teacher Dulu Mia of the area.
It was known that Rohan was playing beside the house. At one stage, he fell in a pond next to the house, and drowned there.
Sensing the matter, the family members rescued him with the help of locals and took him to Aditmari Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared the child dead.
Ward No. 9 Members under Polashi Union Parishad Lutfar Rahman confirmed the incident.
CHILMARI, KURIGRAM: A minor girl drowned in a ditch in Chilmari Upazila of the district on Wednesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Fatema, 3, daughter of Rashidul Haque, a resident of Demnar Par area under Thanahaat Union in the upazila.
It was known that Fatema fell in a ditch next to the house in the morning while her family members were unaware of it.
Later on, her body was found floating on the water and recovered from the ditch.
