Hundreds of protesters gather at Shahbagh, Science Lab

Hundreds of protesters have gathered at Shahbagh intersection in the capital after Jummah prayers on Friday. 

People gathered at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque to offer Jummah prayers then marched toward Shahbagh as part of the previously announced programme by the anti-discrimination student movement.

Besides, hundreds of students brought out procession from the Science Lab intersection in the city after Jummah prayers at Baitul Mamur Jame Mosque at around 2.40pm as part of the scheduled programme.

The procession then proceeded to the Multiplan Centre in Elephant Road.

They were chanting slogans demanding justice for the deaths of the fellow students and those responsible for the deaths to be held accountable.

The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement had announced a nationwide prayer and student procession programme for Friday in protest against the killing and mass arrests and to press home for their 9-point demand.

Abdul Quader, one of the coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Students Movement, announced the programme issuing a statement on Thursday.

The coordinator also made a clarion call to all the citizens of the country including workers, professionals, cultural activists, media workers, human rights activists, intellectuals, alems and ulemas to make Friday's prayer and mass procession a success taking part in those programmes spontaneously.

All mosques, temples and churches were urged to hold prayers for the students who were killed.
