BD earns Tk 4,500cr exporting fish

CHATTOGRAM, Aug 3: State Minister for Labour and Employment Md Nazrul Islam Chowdhury on Saturday said that the country has earned over Taka 4,500 crore as revenue by exporting fish.

"The country has earned revenue of Taka 4,500 crore by exporting fish. We have to double this income too," he told a discussion organized by the upazila administration at the Chandanaish Upazila Parishad auditorium in the district  as the chief guest marking the National Fisheries Week.

Upazila Executive Officer Mahmuda Begum chaired the meeting while Upazila Women Vice Chairman Khaleda Akter and UP Chairman and government officials also spoke.

Later, the state minister distributed government grants among the people suffering from various critical diseases.
He also provided grants to minority groups, distributed wheelchairs to the disabled people and planted tree saplings at the same place.    —BSS
