The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has decided to keep government primary schools closed until further notice across the country.

All primary schools, including Shishu Kalyan Primary Schools and primary schools run by the non-formal education bureau, will remain closed until further notice considering the security of students in the current situation, according to a notice, signed by the ministry's Senior Assistant Secretary Satyajit Roy Das, issued on Saturday.

Violence flared up across the country surrounding the quota reform movement for government jobs on Jul 15.

On Jul 16, six people were killed in clashes in Dhaka, Rangpur and Chattogram. The victims included students and pedestrians.

In the wake of the violence, the government issued an order to close all schools, colleges, and universities indefinitely. —bdnews24.com
