The government has announced the cancellation of the proposed pension system including Prattoy Scheme in universities, autonomous institutions and government institutions, a circular from the Finance Division of the Ministry of Finance said on Saturday.
The scheme was applicable to employees of universities, self-governing, autonomous, state-owned, statutory or homogeneous organisations,
According to the notification, the decision to participate in the public pension system including the Prattoy Scheme has been cancelled in respect of employees of universities, self-governing, autonomous, state-owned, statutory or homogeneous organizations.
Earlier, in a meeting with the central leaders of the Professional Coordination Council at Ganabhaban, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced the cancellation of the proposed pension system.
University teachers and employees have been demanding for the cancellation of the 'Prattoy Scheme' of universal pension for a long time. Public universities also went on strike. A meeting was held with the Awami League General Secretary and various leaders which was futile.
At one point on July 2, the Ministry of Finance clarified some aspects of the Prattoy Scheme. Along with this, the Ministry also said that the Prattoy Scheme was started from July 1. However, a month later, the decision to participate in the universal pension system including the Prattoy Scheme for the employees of universities, self-governing, autonomous, state-owned, statutory or homogeneous organizations has been cancelled.
