Awami League leaders and activists wielding firearms chased protesters in Dhanmondi-27 area of the capital on Sunday during the ongoing Non-Cooperation Movement.
Three journalists were also assaulted and injured by the activists of rulling party.
Witnesses’ said protestors start gathering beside Rapa Plaza on Road 27 Dhanmondi at around 11AM.
Meanwhile, the ruling party leaders and activists took position on the road near Asad Gate.
At around 11:30am suddenly Awami League activists chased the protesters and opening gunfire.
Later, Awami League leaders and activists also took position in front of Bangladesh Eye Hospital at around 11:45AM.
Meanwhile, three journalists were reportedly assaulted and attacked by the Awami League activists while they were covering news.
Despite informing them of their profession, the miscreants verbally abused a female journalist and assaulted her, and threatened to beat her up, the victims said.
Other two journalists were attacked with sharp weapons.
