Rizvi, Parwar sent to jail in Setu Bhaban vandalism case

A Dhaka court  has sent BNP senior joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and five others to jail in a case filed over vandalizing and setting Setu Bhaban in Banani area of the capital on fire on July 18.
 
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rashidul Alam passed the order on Sunday as police produced the accused before the court after their three-day remand in the case and pleaded to keep them behind bars till the end of the probe.
 
The same court on August 1 placed the six accused on a three-day remand each in the case.

The five accused are -- BNP Organizing Secretary Qazi Sayedul Alam Babul, Publicity Affairs SecretarySultan Salauddin Tuku, Dhaka North City Unit Member Secretary Aminul Haque,BNP's Bagerhat District Convener MA Salam and Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Miah Golam Parwar.

According to the case documents, a mob of 250/300 people on July 18 stormed into the premises of Setu Bhaban, vandalized many vehicles, and motorbikes, ransacked different sheds and rooms, and later set those on fire.


They attacked and beat many employees.
