Police stations, govt facilities, AL leaders houses come under attacks countrywide

There have been reports of attacks countrywide on police stations, significant government facilities and the houses of AL leaders and activists across the country on Monday. 

The unrest resulted in protesting masses breaking into and vandalising Ganabhaban, the Prime Minister's official residence. Incidents of vandalism and arson have been reported in various other locations as well.
Hundreds of protesters have set Bangabandhu Bhaban, known as the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum, on fire at Dhanmondi 32 in the capital on Monday afternoon.

Different media report that the fire was blazing intensely and the demonstrators were chanting various slogans.

They also set fire to the Awami League president's office at Dhanmondi 3/A at around 4pm on Monday. At the time, the fire spread to nearby area.

Residence of  Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan at Hare Road in Dhaka came under attack and was vandalised on Monday. A Supreme Court official confirmed the report around 5:30pm, adding, "A large group of people broke into the Chief Justice's residence during a protest march."

Sources reported that the group entered the residence around 4:45pm, when no security guards were present. Apart from reported vandalism, various items were allegedly looted by protestors. 

During the attack, his residence was cut-off from power supply.  Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan had left the residence shortly before the attack.

People vandalised the residence of Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan in Dhanmondi of the capital on Monday afternoon. Thousands of protesters are seen entered the minister's residence breaking the entrance. They attacked and vandalised the residence. Smoke was seen from inside the house.

A group of people attacked the Police HQ Police Station in the capital on Monday afternoon and carried out vandalism. A group of people attacked the Jatrabari Police Station in the capital on Monday afternoon and carried out vandalism. They set fire to several vehicles kept in front of a building adjacent to the police station. Police members confined inside Jatrabari Police Station were firing gunshots for self defence.

Many reportedly received bullet wounds. The army personnel were trying to control the situation.

Angry mobs went on a rampage at ATN Bangla office in Dhaka's Karwan Bazar, forcing the authorities concerned to take ATN News off air.

"Nothing is left in our office. Everything has been taken except tables," a senior reporter at ATN News said "We are safe and have left office," he added.  Additionally, the Awami League president's office at Dhanmondi-3 was also torched by angry crowds.

By 4 pm, protesters had set fire to the Dhaka district unit Awami League office. Shortly after, around 5 pm, Sudha Sadan in Dhanmondi, the residence of Dr. Wajed Miah, Sheikh Hasina's late husband, was also set on fire and vandalised.The Awami League central office on Bangabandhu Avenue was set ablaze shortly after 4pm.

Miscreants have vandalised the Adabar and Badda police stations in the capital on Monday afternoon.

Several vehicles parked inside the Adabar police station were seen on fire. A chase and counter-chase took place between the police and the vandals.

Police officers fired several shots during the incident when the miscreants attempted to enter the stations.

Miscreants vandalised and set fire to the house of lawmaker Mashrafe Bin Mortaza of Narail-2 constituency on Monday.

They also set fire to Narail district Awami League office and vandalized District Awami League President Subash Chandra Bose's houses.

Meanwhile, miscreants vandalised the residence of Shamim Osman, the Member of Parliament for the Narayanganj-4 constituency and also vandalised the district Awami League office.

Agitators set fire to the house of lawmaker AKM Bahauddin Bahar of Cumilla-6 (Sadar) constituency in the Manoharpur Munsefbari area of Cumilla city.

Thousands of people attacked Kotwali police station. During the attack, weapons were looted from the police station, and various police equipment was vandalised. 

The crowd also attempted to storm the Metropolitan Police headquarters in Dampara, prompting the police to disperse them by firing shots. 

Additionally, there was significant damage reported at Patenga Police Station, EPZ Police Station, Chandgaon, and Bayezid Police Station, with several of these establishments set on fire. 

Around 6:30 pm, angry mob targeted the Chittagong Central Jail, where security guards fired to control the situation. Earlier in the afternoon, the city Awami League office at Darul Fazal Market in the Newmarket area was vandalised.

Meanwhile the houses of AL leaders including Raozan MP ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury, City Mayor Md Rezaul Karim Chowdhury were attacked and set on fire.
