The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) has requested the authorities to take immediate steps to restore the economic activities strictly re-enforcing law and order in Dhaka City and around the country.
The DCCI urges immediate formation and declaration of the interim government in a lawful manner to contain the current law and order situation which is harming the country's economy.
"We request all concerned to take necessary measures to this end. We believe interim government is a must to restore democratic election process and hand the country back to its people and its elected representatives," says DCCI in a press release.
In the wake of recent political unrest and challenges, the Dhaka Chamber underscores the urgent need for quick revival of law and order and requests all necessary action to restore normal economic activities as soon as possible.
The nationwide economic operations have been significantly hampered. In this regard, immediate measures are essential to restore the law and order condition to recover from significant damages.
The recent events have taken a large toll on our lives and economy, disrupting living and economic conditions. Unless measures are effective, supply chain disruptions will cause further damage and add to public suffering, DCCI said.
It is imperative that economic operations must resume at the fullest extent for the greater interest of the nation. The private sector, the key driver of the economy, requires prompt and substantial supports to overcome the setbacks caused by recent disruptions.
Addressing the law, order and economic stability are immediate and utmost priorities in the country, the DCCI said.
"For moving forward, a conducive environment must be established for economic recovery featured by political stability and regulatory certainty. By fostering a stable political environment, we can rebuild our businesses' confidence and activities in home and abroad.
"We call for collective efforts from all stakeholders including imminent interim Government, private sector and political parties to mitigate the impact of recent loss and damages through a rigorous and sustainable economic recovery process, the DCCI statement said.
The DCCI is also committed to work closely with all relevant stakeholders including the next interim government and others through coordinated endeavors to end the current headwinds, it said.
