In the context of changing scenario following Sheikh Hasina's resignation from power amid one-point demand of Anti-Discrimination Students' Movement, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal also did not go to the Nirbachan Bhaban on Wednesday (August 7).
Besides, Election Commissioner Md Anisur Rahman refrained from attending his office.
After the leaving of Sheikh Hasina on Monday (August 5), the CEC, four ECs, secretary and additional secretary did not go to the Nirbachan Bhaban. However, other officials and employees went down to the ground floor of the building beaing afraid of attack. Then all of them left the office before 1:00pm.
On Wednesday, ECs Md Ahsan Habib Khan, Md Alamgir and Rasheda Sultana went to their respective offices. Besides, EC Shafiul Azim, additional secretary Ashok Kumar Debnath and other officials and employees went to the office.
CEC's personal secretary Md Riazuddin said the CEC was physically well. He could not come to the office on Tuesday and Wednesday. It had happened due to lack of police protection. He may come to the office on Thursday b(August 8).
