PABNA, Aug 13: Human rights organization Odhikar organised a human chain in the district demanding the return of missing persons to the country on Monday at about 11 am.
The human chain was formed in front of Pabna Press Club.
Journalist Abul Kalam Azad, district coordinator of Odhikar-Pabna, led the hour-long human chain.
It was attended by rights activists, students, teachers, journalists, businessmen and people from civil society. Among others, rights activist Vishnu Pad Hor, Daily Observer correspondent in Pabna NC Madhu, Professor Nurul Alam Bachchu of Government Edward University College, Pabna representative of Jai Jai Din Arif Ahmed Siddiqui, Pabna correspondent of Daily Our New Time Abdul Mateen were present.
Journalist Abul Kalam Azad said, many people in the country have unjustly disappeared over years in the so-called mirror house; their families are living in fear and inhuman condition.
They demanded the administration to return these missing persons to their families and relatives without any delay.
He also demanded speedy trial of all human rights violations including extrajudicial killings by the law-enforcement forces.
