The apex body of traders, FBCCI, has sought the cooperation of the law enforcement agencies to strengthen the security of industrial factories and business establishments of the country.
FBCCI President Mahbubul Alam made this call at the coordination meeting on business and industrial safety issues at FBCCI's Gulshan office on Tuesday.
General Officer Commanding (GOC) and Area Commander (Savar) of Bangladesh Army's 9th Infantry Division Maj Gen Md Moin Khan and business leaders from various chambers and associations.
FBCCI President Mahbubul Alam said if the law and order situation is improved in the current situation, confidence will return among businessmen and investors. The business community is hopeful that the economy will regain its momentum if the security of businesses and industries is ensured and the steps taken by the army for this purpose. The FBCCI President assured the GOC that they will work in coordination with the law enforcement agencies.
Ninth Infantry Division General Officer Commanding (GOC) and Area Commander (Savar) Maj Gen Md Moin Khan said, if business and industrial establishments cannot be given security, the economy will collapse. For this, the main duty of the interim government is to provide security to trade and industry with all its might. Therefore, he urged the Bangladesh Army to provide information about any businessmen or industrial establishments threatened with attacks including extortion.
At this time, the DIG of Industrial Police Azad Mia said that most of the policemen have already joined work to protect the industry. Soon the remaining members will join the work. Moreover, the presence of workers in most of the factories is promising, he said.
Abdul Awal Mintu, former president of FBCCI, said that there will be no investment if there is social instability and insecurity in the country. For this, he first called upon the army to improve the law and order situation and assured the businessmen that they would cooperate in this work.
Former President of FBCCI, Mir Nasir Hossain Abdul Awal Mintu, Md Jasim Uddin, Senior Vice President of FBCCI Amin Helali, Vice President Munir Hossain, former senior vice-president Mustafa Azad Chowdhury Babu and others were present in the meeting.
